Frequently Asked Questions

Are my uploaded images sent to any server?
No. Optical recognition executes entirely on your device via client-side Web Workers. Your images, credentials, and extracted texts never get transferred to any external server or third-party storage.
How does binarization improve OCR accuracy?
Canvas pixel thresholding removes uneven shadows, wrinkles, and background colors, converting text into sharp monochrome pixels. This allows the OCR engine to detect edges cleanly without noise interference.
Are trained language models downloaded every time?
No. Tesseract.js caches training models directly inside your browser's IndexedDB storage. Subsequent OCR requests run locally without re-downloading files across visits.
Can I extract handwritten text or notes?
Neat block handwriting can be recognized, but the system is specifically tuned for machine-printed letters, digital book scans, screenshots, receipts, invoices, and standard documents.
How does word positioning and highlight preview work?
Tesseract detects specific spatial coordinate bounds for every word. Clicking any text segment on the output panel triggers an overlay box over the corresponding region on the source canvas.
What formats and clipboard actions are supported?
You can paste image data directly from the system clipboard or upload standard PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP, and BMP formats. Files are exported cleanly with verified names.
